There is no doubt that weddings today are expensive, some easily into the $20,000.00 price range. (And that's if you live somewhere in a simple rural area; big cities may be twice the amount.) Recently, people have begun to analyze some of the astronomical figures and become more introspective. They start to realize life is short, nothing is certain in life, and the prices for a traditional wedding might cost them their life!

A lot of these places cater to "small" weddings, which is why they don't blatantly advertise their wedding accommodations and get requests for hundreds of guests. Other couples have been content to have their wedding at a relative or friend's house, which costs nothing and can be easily prettied up to be a respectable venue for a small wedding. Last but not least, if you really want to make your small wedding memorable, think about a destination wedding. Traveling with just a few families to an exotic location can be fun and much less expensive than a traditional wedding.
